The week started off dry and ended in 48 hours of straight rain! Ironically, my students were in sync with the weather. Dry faces most of the week, tears upon tears, upon tears on Thursday and Friday. The field trip to their future middle school was the quietest my classroom had been all year. I turned off the lights, sat under my desk, and worked for 2 straight hours… zero disruptions.
When the field trip was over, you would have thought we were practicing an earthquake drill because they walked in and immediately started hanging onto the desks for dear life. “HOLD ME BACK!” “I REFUSE TO GO TO MIDDLE SCHOOL!” “IF YOU DON’T COME WITH US, I’M STAYING HERE FOREVER!” The same kiddos explained the only class they kind of liked was drama. Shocking…… They are going to be naturals 😉 Due to my personal struggle of work-life-wife-dog mom-friend balance right now, I’m keeping this winter teacher outfit roundup short and sweet!
Student quote of the day: “You look nice today. Are you wearing makeup?” … I had been out of bronzer for a couple weeks…
Student quote of the day: “Can I please have a unicorn that licks me and calls me George?” … This is what they’re thinking about in the middle of my lessons? Yikes… I’ve got some work to-do…
Student quote of the day: “Can you please not dance during the video? It’s awkward every time you do it…” … I do it to help you embrace awkwardness, my tiny human.
Student quote of the day: “Why do you shrink on some days?” … heels and flats… heels then flats… instant shrinkage!
Students really do say the darnedest little things! This week I’m going to be implementing a couple different work-life balance interventions on myself… I’ll let you all know how they go 🙂 Any tips? The struggle is real this time of year! Can’t wait to hear from you!
